Come join our team today!SUMMARYThe Staff Accountant performs
internal audits for the agency; assists with the annual budget
coordination; reviews internal control practices and procedures;
assists as needed with the financial statements and annual audit.
This is accomplished through observations, audits, analysis, and
subsequent reports. The Staff Accountant is directly responsible to
the Vice President Finance. This position is not eligible for
overtime pay.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESThe following
duties and responsibilities are given as examples of the various
types of work performed in this position. Other duties and
responsibilities may be assigned.Performs routine or special
analysis or audits of programs and/or departments, revenues and
expenses, including compliance with agency and contract procedures
and accounting requirements. Maintains documentation of findings
and recommendations of analyses and reviews. Examples of audit
areas are: detailed reviews of petty cash funds, travel expense
logs, food and clothing accounts, work program records, telephone
records, gas records, property, payroll, accounting journals,
ledgers, agency contracts, proposals, and other miscellaneous
fiscal records.Assists the Vice President Finance with establishing
a uniform system of accounting procedures at all agency locations
with internal controls as basis for the procedures. Determines
proper segregation of duties and develops mitigating controls as
needed.Assists in training employees in fiscal-related areas at the
various sites when requested and approved.Provides accounting
support as needed to other departmental managers to support
Raiser's Edge operations, and the data exchange between Raiser's
Edge and Financial Edge software.Administers Data base Management
pertaining to Accounting records.Ensures consultation and training
is provided to agency staff on accounting matters and the use of
accounting computer systems and software.Ensures appropriate and
timely billing for contracts and fees for service.Assists with
financial statements, the annual audit process and year-end closing
of the General Ledger.Serves as backup to the Coordinator of
Deferred and Special Gifts for bank account reconciliations.Assists
the Vice President Finance with the management of Restricted Funds
(Restricted, Gift Annuity, Pooled Income, and Endowment) as
required, including, but not limited to, Project Accounting, IRS
reporting, audit schedule preparation, etc.Responsible for the
collection and publication of information related to annual
Operating Budgets for FSYR and SRE. This includes using the
Financial Edge budget module for data collection and reporting.
Performs additional budget tasks as directed by Vice President
Finance or Vice President Operations.Assists the Vice President
Finance with business activity related to FSYR investments and real
estate recorded in the Unrestricted Operating Fund. For investment
activities, this includes monthly reconciliations of all investment
accounts and the postings of monthly income and gains/losses to
financial records.Assigned special projects as required to support
FSYR and SRE operations.Assists in the annual budgeting process
which includes providing assistance, consultation, and feedback to
departments and programs.EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSThis
position requires a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting. Prior audit
and general ledger experience are preferred but not required.Job
