FLEET MECHANIC ROAD AND BRIDGE DEPARTMENT
The Wakulla County Board of County Commissioners is seeking qualified applicants for a full-time benefitted position of Fleet Mechanic in the Road & Bridge Department.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, repairing, and maintaining vehicles and equipment, completing work orders, providing emergency roadside service and welding. Repairs engines, transmissions or differentials, repairs brake systems, air-conditioners, and heating units. Performs preventative maintenance on vehicles; responds to emergency calls for roadside assistance for disabled county vehicles. Test-drives vehicles to establish problem areas and to ensure proper functioning upon completion of repairs.
Qualified applicants must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent, specialized vocational training in automotive mechanic or a closely related field is a plus but not required.
ABILITIES: Ability to lift to 50 lbs.; read technical instructions, charts, and/or procedures manuals; ability to make decisions with minor impact; ability to manage or use machines, tools, equipment, or work aids involving minor latitude for judgement regarding attainment of a standard or in selecting appropriate items. Must be able to work cohesively with others and be willing to work nonstandard and overtime hours as required.
