National High Magnetic Field Laboratory (NHMFL) The National MagLab
is operated for the National Science Foundation by a collaboration
of institutions comprising Florida State University, the University
of Florida, and Los Alamos National Laboratory. The NHMFL operates
the worlds most powerful electro-magnets at Florida State
University, the University of Florida and Los Alamos National Lab
including a 45 T dc magnet and a 35.2 T (1.5 GHz) NMR magnet.
Present projects include development of a 40 T all-superconducting
magnet. Our long-term plan includes development of 30 T NMR
magnets, neutron scattering magnets, and resistive-superconducting

Responsibilities Responsible for managing the operational,
administration, financial and compliance activities of essential
projects of the NHMFL. Responsible for managing administrative,
financial and compliance activities for a complex program on a
tight timeline. Interpret funding regulations, and prepare periodic
and final reports for the funding stakeholders. Responsible for
financial and accounting activities of the project and communicate
how the bottom line affects the project. Manage contract and grant
budget management and reporting, monthly reconciliation of budgets,
and budget development. Develop internal policy and program
development for this multifaceted project. Manage administrative
requirements of contracts and grants proposals to include preparing
periodic and final reports, interpreting grant regulations and
procedures. Manage purchasing and travel expenditures. Responsible
for project management associated with project planning,
monitoring, and scheduling tasks by applying a broad range of
project control practices. Track employee performance during
projects and support project managers, develop and maintain
schedules, and prepare monthly status reports and advise project
managers on critical areas and progress toward milestones. Perform
cost, schedule and earned value (EV) analyses to identify and
report variances from the baseline plan. Interface with project
managers, research scientists, engineers, procurement contract
administrators, financial analysts, governing bodies and regulators
on project planning and controls issues. Implement standards,
system descriptions, software applications, protocols, and
practices for successful project management. Manage complex
procurement processes, personnel recruitment and activity, and
space allocation for this project. Work with short-term and
long-term planning and committee work related to internal business
systems at the Magnet Lab and in conjunction with this project.
Qualifications Bachelor's degree and four years of experience; or a
high school diploma/equivalent and experience equal to eight years.
(Note: post-high school education can substitute for experience at
the equivalent rate.) Experience with budget, financial and
accounting principles. Experience working with contract and grants
management and reporting to include grant submission, tracking and
reporting. Knowledge of administrative, personnel and fiscal rules,
policies and procedures. Extensive experience Microsoft Word,
Excel, and Outlook or comparable software. Ability to communicate
effectively verbally and in writing and establish effective working
relationships. Ability to prioritize and organize work assignments
and maintain strong organizational skills. This position requires
successful completion of the eSPEAR Certification or ability to
obtain the certification within 6 months of hire.
