Report
- Assists with activities related to State Complaints and Due
Process Indicators
- Demonstrates a thorough understanding and knowledge of the
indicator measurement, related data, improvement activities, and
the SPP/APR planning calendar
- In the context of team activities, assists in the review of
indicator data to evaluate progress and slippage and design and
evaluate improvement activities
- Collaborates with other Indicator team members in the
preparation of required sections of the SPP/APR in accordance with
the established calendar
- Participates in national calls related to the respective
indicators General Support
- Provides information, technical assistance and support related
to the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), to
families and other stakeholders by responding to Corr flow,
electronic mail messages, and phone communication
- Assists in directing, coordinating, and administering all
aspects of subsection activities relating to student outcomes and
program development for students with disabilities served by
Florida school districts in regard to: -
- Collection and dissemination of essential information;
- Analyses of policies and procedures to aid in policy
formulation and administrative decision-making;
- Assistance to school districts and agencies in the planning,
development, and evaluation of programs for the improvement of
instruction;
- Technical assistance to school and district-level staff, and
instructional personnel regarding instructional materials,
curriculum planning, and transitional programs for students with
disabilities;
- Review, analysis, and interpretation of student data regarding
the implication of improving student performance, and;
- Consultant services for parents and lay groups.
- Assists in directing and coordinating sub section staff
assigned to Bureau's ESE assistance monitoring function, data
preparation and collaborates with other Bureau staff to ensure a
coordinated effort across sections.
- Coordinates the operation of the Bureau's General Supervisions
website and the Project Tracking System.
- Collaborates with other personnel in the Division of Public
Schools and the Department in relation to services for students
with disabilities
- Encourages and fosters inter- and intra-agency relationships to
ensure collaborative planning for and implementation of services at
all levels for exceptional students.
- Supervises, directs, and participates in functions necessary
for subsection participation in Bureau, Division, and Department
activities.
- Coordinates activities of BEESS discretionary projects
including preparation of RFAS, review of applications, audits from
DFS, and documentation for payments by the Bureau of the
Comptroller
- Coordinates enhancements to the Online Grants Application
System.
- Plans and coordinates statewide, meetings, training, and
workshops
- Assists in program reviews for compliance with state and
federal regulations, as needed
- Coordinates the activities of various task forces in regard to
issues and topics on the education of students with disabilities;
presents issues and areas of concern to the State Advisory
Committee; and advises Bureau administrators of possible issues
affecting the statewide system of personnel development. Staff
Supervision : Supervises and evaluates the work of program
specialists and support staff
- Develops plans for unit with employees and other appropriate
staff
- Performs appraisals of employees including establishment of
standards and responsibilities and meets regularly with employees
to ensure accomplishment of standards
- Trains employees in methods of effectively and efficiently
carrying out duties and responsibilities Knowledge, Skills, and
Abilities :
- Knowledge of educational programs and services for students
with disabilities, and related federal and state exceptional
student education regulations and laws; and
- The ability to: Utilize problem-solving techniques; Understand
and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures;
Supervise people; Prioritize work load; Develop various reports and
formulate policies and procedures; Communicate effectively verbally
and in writing; and establish and maintain effective working
relationships with others; Plan, organize, and direct program
