The hospital was recently named a Joint Commission Top Performer on Key Quality Measures - - heart failure, heart attack, pneumonia, surgical care, and perinatal care - for the fourth consecutive year and has achieved certifications for its stroke and wound care. -Located in Panama City, Florida, its team of more than 450 providers and 1,000 employees work to ensure patients receive the highest quality of care every day. With the areas only designated Pediatric ER, four-bed Pediatric ICU and 28-bed NICU, the hospital is ready to care for our youngest residents. -The hospital has the only Accredited Chest Pain Center with Primary PCI as recognized by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care. Additionally, the hospital's cancer program is accredited by the Commission on Cancer and the National Accreditation Program for Breast Centers (NAPBC). These designations enhance the hospital's quality of care and demonstrate its commitment to higher, measurable standards of care.POSITION SUMMARY: - -The Surgical Cardiovascular OR Registered Nurse First Assist (CVOR RNFA) provides direct nursing care in accordance with established policies, procedures and protocols of the healthcare organization. The tasks and responsibilities are to include assessment, plan, and evaluate the nursing care needs of the patient in the pre-operative area, during the surgical procedure and immediately after the end of the surgical procedure. The patient's needs will be met by providing comfort and support for peri-operative patients and families. Evaluation of responses to treatments, interventions and anticipating the case specific needs based on knowledge of procedure and pathophysiology of the patient. The CVOR RNFA will, in addition to monitoring, recording and communicating patient condition utilizing computerized documentation system, execute physician orders, provide medication as ordered, serve as the primary coordinator of all disciplines for patient care in the surgical operating room setting, and provide age and culturally appropriate care. Experienced CVOR RNFA may participate in the orientation and mentoring of new staff members. The CVOR RNFA will be available to be On CALL as her/his position requires. QUALIFICATIONS: - To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential core function satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill experience, and ability necessary to perform this job. ESSENTIAL CORE FUNCTIONS:

  • Demonstrates knowledge and application of sterile technique, equipment and supplies needed for various surgical procedures.
  • Communicates, interacts and participates in teamwork on the unit.
  • Plans and implements patient care and teaching based on a total assessment and the age of the patient.
  • Practices, endorses and provides customer service skills to patients, visitors, physicians and staff.
  • Serves as the patient and family advocate with respect to the patients' right to privacy by protecting confidential information.
  • Functions in collaboration with and at the direction of the surgeon being assisted.
  • Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care or the services delivered.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.
  • Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient's care which results in harm. - - - -
  • Attends inservice presentations and completes all mandatory education requirements.
  • Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.
  • Regular, Punctual and Dependable Attendance.
  • Maintains and safely handles medications to include IV fluids, contrast media, and all Accudose medications. - -
  • Participates in emergency call schedule and reports for duty within 30 minutes of notification without question.

        • Airway Maintenance, assisting with Intubation/Extubation
        • OR Equipment and Instrumentation, OR table, Lights, ESU, Suction, Powered Equipment and Minimally
            • Invasive Equipment.

                • Associate Degree in Nursing or Nursing Diploma -from an accredited institution required.
                • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
