The Agency for Persons with Disabilities works in partnership with local communities to support people with developmental disabilities in living, learning, and working in their communities. APD provides critical services and supports for customers with developmental disabilities to reach their full potential. The Agency serves people with spina bifida, autism, Down syndrome, children age 3-5 at high risk of developmental disabilities, cerebral palsy, Prader-Willi syndrome, Phelan-McDermid syndrome, and intellectual disabilities. There is no charge or co-payment for services provided through the Agency.

DIRECT DEPOSIT PROGRAM - As a condition of employment, a person appointed to a position in State government is required to participate in the Direct Deposit Program. Rather than receiving a paper paycheck, your funds will be deposited directly into your account at your financial institution. This will be accomplished by Electronic Funds Transfer. Banks, savings and loan associations, and credit unions are eligible to accept such deposits. Retirement funds are also required to be in the Direct Deposit Program.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT:

It is the policy of the Florida Agency for Persons with Disabilities that applicants for employment undergo Level 2 employment screening in accordance with the requirements of Chapter 435, Florida Statutes, as a condition of employment or being permitted to serve as a volunteer.

No applicant for a designated position will be employed or permitted to volunteer until the Level 2 screening results are received, reviewed, and approved by the Agency.

Level 2 background screening shall include, but not be limited to, fingerprinting for Statewide criminal and juvenile records checks through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, and Federal criminal records checks through the Federal Bureau of Investigation, and may include local criminal records checks through local law enforcement agencies.

REQUIREMENTS:

This position requires a valid Registered Nursing (RN) license (eligible to practice in the state of Florida).

This position requires experience working with individuals with developmental disabilities.

This position requires either an Associate's Degree in Nursing (ASN/ADN) or Bachelor's Degree in Nursing (BSN)

Position may require some travel to surrounding areas, applicant must be willing and able to travel for work purposes.

* DUTIES:

Employees of the Agency for Persons with Disabilities are required to demonstrate total commitment to outstanding customer service. This includes, but is not limited to, always acting in a responsive, professional, courteous manner with the employees, customers and public we always serve.

This is a professional position specializing in nursing oversight for the implementation of medical, nursing and allied health policies, procedures, and regulations for the Agency for Persons with Disabilities. The employee in this position must exercise independent judgment in formulating program policies and providing technical assistance to Regional, community, and institutional staff. Assists with the development and implementation of medical nursing policies and procedures for the Agency for Persons with Disabilities community based and institutional care. (percentages below may vary as needed)

Reporting of death, data aggregation, iConnect, Vital Statistics data, analysis and trending, IMS reconciliation, spreadsheet coordination.

Florida Administrative Rule 65G-7 Medication Administration. Technical assistance to Regional staff and community stakeholders on all medication administration rule issues.

Assisting with the development of program policy, operating procedures, handbooks, manuals, and rules, and revisions.

Participates in monthly Region specific & Statewide MCM conference calls.

Participates in the Quality Assurance, Quality Management, and Quality Improvement initiatives of the Agency, inclusive of data aggregation, trending and analysis, and collaboration with the Quality Improvement Organization.

SAO Reporting.

Provides state office review for eligibility, SANs, Crisis Referrals (Review), Nursing Services, MCM reports/reviews and Incident Reports as needed.

Specialized projects as requested.

Represents the Agency in hearings or meetings as requested.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.

Knowledge of nursing principles, practices and techniques.

Knowledge of human anatomy and physiology.

Ability to develop, evaluate and implement aspects of the nursing process.

Ability to organize work, coordinate with others as necessary and work independently.

Ability to conduct trainings and communicate effectively.

Ability to prioritize workload - plan, organize and coordinate assignments.

Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.

Ability to develop program policy, rules, manuals and reports.

Must be a current licensed Registered Nurse (RN), eligible to practice nursing in the State of Florida in accordance with Chapter 464 F.S., or F.A.C. 210-8.22 or 8.27. Related field and professional nursing experience.

Ability to travel: Position may require some travel for work purposes.
