Job Title: HR GENERALIST Location: Tallahassee, FL (downtown)
Starts: ASAP Schedule: Monday - Friday from 8:00am - 5:00pm (60min
daily break) Pay: $18-24/h (depending on relevant
skills/experience) Hire type: *Temp-to-hire *this position will
become opportunity for direct/permanent employment for ideal
candidate; depending on performance during temp/trial period
Summary: Performs highly independent and specialized work in the
Human Resource (HR) department including employee relations,
training, benefits and compensation, records management, and
enforcing company policies and practices. In addition to performing
duties for the Clerk's Office, this position performs functions for
the other Constitutional Offices and the Leon County Board of
County Commissioners. Seeking candidates who are professional,
reliable, experienced, detail-oriented, friendly/respectful,
hard-working, ambitious, etc. Essential Functions/Duties:
--- Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human
resource programs including, but not limited to compensation,
benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and
investigations; performance and talent management; work
assessments, recognition, and morale; occupational health and
safety; professional licensure and certifications, and training and
--- Recruits, interviews, and facilitates the hiring of qualified
job applicants for open positions; collaborates with departmental
managers to understand skills and competencies required for
--- Facilitate on-boarding/off-boarding process.
--- Assist in the coordination of benefits administration for new
hires, open enrollment, and life events.
--- Implements new hire orientation and employee recognition
--- Attends and participates in employee disciplinary meetings,
terminations, and investigations.
--- Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and
non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments.
This may include safety training, anti-harassment training,
--- Ensure maintenance of personnel records and other employment
--- Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants,
employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive
matters to the appropriate staff.
--- Ensures compliance with all company, federal and state
regulations relating to employment matters.
--- Assist with payroll as needed.
--- Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment
laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews
policies and practices to maintain compliance.
--- Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory
changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent
management, and employment law. Performs other duties as assigned.
Requirements: *Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business
Administration, or related field required. *At least 1-3 year of HR
Generalist experience is preferred *SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR
is preferred *Reliable (dependability is critical) *Excellent
communication skills (both oral and written) *Strong computer
skills & proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, etc.)
*Strong customer service/interpersonal skills *Strong attention to
detail *Strong aptitude for learning; trainable *Ability to
multi-task *Self-driven; able to complete tasks without direct
