Job Description:
Manager Software Engineering
Manage the organization's development operations function enabling
rapid product development, deployments, and maintenance. Develop
and implement plans, policies, and procedures related to automated
software deployment processes. Establish measures to determine if
organizational objectives, such as customer responsiveness,
application performance, and deployment release schedules, are
being met. Collaborate cross-functionally to prioritize
organizational needs and ensure effective communication between the
development and operations teams.
GENERAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee multiple projects and ensure project timing is
maintained.
Allocate resources as necessary to ensure success for all business
requirements.
Manage interfaces between the engineering team and other teams in
the company to ensure smooth and effective relationships.
Identify training needed by the team and the priority it will be
conducted; ensure training effectiveness.
Ensure proper implementation of company policies and
procedures.
Track and maintain all project hours spent by the engineering
team.
Track and develop KPIs for the team and communicate regularly the
status of such items.
Objectively evaluate team performance and develop resources by
conducting quarterly performance reviews and an annual review in
accordance to company policy.
Maintain complete software theory knowledge; learn new theory when
the business or customer requires.
Have complete understanding of software specifications for multiple
customers. Be capable of supporting testing and offer solutions to
identified problems.
EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a technical field; Master's
Degree preferred.
5+ years of experience in software design and development,
preferably in the automotive industry, with an expert understanding
of software design and development processes.
Experience managing and leading teams with advanced management
skills in planning and organization, decision making, and problem
solving.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
If working with federal government contract clients, an employee is
required to receive federal government clearance for handling
sensitive information. Employee is also required to receive annual
security awareness training.
GENERAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Ability to investigate and analyze information and draw
conclusions.
Ability to develop and deliver presentations.
Ability to process computer data and to format and generate
reports.
Ability to supervise and train employees, to include organizing,
prioritizing, and scheduling work assignments.
Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.
Skill in developing policy and procedure documentation.
Ability to plan, assign, train, supervise and evaluate the work of
others, and to monitor goals, objectives, deadlines and
priorities;
Extensive knowledge of credentialing procedures and governing
bodies standards.
Ability to establish and maintain effective and cooperative working
relationships with staff and others contacted in the course of the
work;
Ability to assume responsibility and exercise good judgment in
making decisions within the scope of authority of the position;
Ability to think and work effectively under pressure and accurately
complete tasks within established times
