Your Specific Responsibilities:

This is a Junior Epidemiology/Data Analyst position under the direction of the HIV Surveillance Data Analysis Manager in the HIV/AIDS Section, Bureau of Communicable Diseases. This data analyst position is responsible for generating, reviewing and validating routine and ad hoc epidemiologic data analysis reports and data requests. The position is responsible for linking multiple databases, validating the resulting matches, and importing key variables from the matches into the HIV surveillance system eHARS. This individual must make critical decisions related to this matching process to ensure all standards are met, while maintaining a high level of quality control. This position is also responsible for performing geocoding validation. This position collaborates with co-workers by assigning work, reviewing work progress, assessing performance and reporting any issues to the supervisor. This position requires the ability to work confidentially, accurately and independently, without close supervision.

Coordinates the generation of routine database matches from the eHARS database with various other databases, including, but not limited to Vital Statistics, Social Security Death Master File, National Death Index, STD, TB, Merlin, patient care-related databases, and Florida's Cancer database.

Coordinates with co-workers and oversees the development and preparation of routine and ad hoc epidemiologic data reports, GIS maps, fact sheets, and state and local area slide sets of HIV/AIDS data for grants, presentations, outreach materials, research publications and quality assurance/technical assistance visits. Assists with the reviewing and validation of epidemiologic analysis reports.

Trains and assigns co-workers data to validate matched pairs of multiple databases and to investigate questionable matches. Reviews and evaluates final matched documents from the co-workers to ensure data quality and reports outcomes to supervisor. Imports key variables from the matches into eHARS.

Coordinates with co-workers on the clean-up and validation of key matching variable elements in eHARS, including name, social security numbers and all address fields. Assists with the geocoding validation process.

Coordinates with co-workers the generation of routine daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual data.

Serves as the lead web intranet and internet contact person to the Bureau Web Coordinator for ensuring that all web data meets set Department branding standards.

Performs other related duties as assigned.
