Position Summary:

A Compliance staff member, who possesses an in-depth clinical knowledge of hospice and home health regulations for the States of Florida and Alabama, Medicare Conditions of Participation, and billing requirements. Conducts internal audits as well as any other activities that support the organization's annual compliance plan. Provides ongoing monitoring for service-line compliance with both technical and non-technical documentation requirements of home health and hospice billing.


Must be a graduate from an accredited school of nursing and be currently licensed as a Registered Nurse. A minimum of three (3) years of clinical audit experience in home health is required. Extensive experience in electronic medical records and full Microsoft office suite, specifically Excel, is required. Must have a strong ability to prioritize and manage broad tasks and work independently. Must be able to navigate medical records efficiently in order to maximize audit productivity. This RN will demonstrate strong competency in determining if clinical documentation supports billing. This position will require weekly productivity measures.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintain current knowledge of the developments and changes of applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards.

Maintain current knowledge of Covenant Care policies and procedures and regulations for States of Florida, and Alabama.

Maintain working knowledge of Medicare Conditions of Participation and documentation requirements for compliant home health and hospice billing.

Conduct internal audits that support the overall compliance plan of the organization and serve to detect areas of risk/vulnerability.

Compile and analyze data which may include making recommendations for additional compliance probes or audits.

May be asked to assist with external audit requests.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Compliance Officer or the Internal Audit Manager.

Promote a positive image of Covenant Care at all times throughout the community.

Required to comply with all Covenant Hospice Policies, Procedures and Personnel Policies, including those specifically addressing disaster preparedness and response.

Special Demands/Physical Requirements:

Position may sometimes require light to medium lifting. Normally, such lifting will include, but is not limited to, the lifting of books, audiovisual equipment, various office supplies, small equipment items and library material. The position does require the mental ability to analyze data, convert data to useful information, develop and present complicated briefings, and interact successfully with a diverse number of individuals.
