Job Description:
General Statement of Duties:
Migrant Student Service Provider (SSP) will provide classroom
support services as needed to meet the unique educational needs of
migrant students, supplemental services as needed to help students
successfully meet the educational standards of the local school
system.
Minimum Qualifications:
* Hold or qualify for a Georgia Paraprofessional Rank I or Rank II
license. Must pass the Georgia Paraprofessional Assessment
(available at the Board of Education Office - Call 229-377-3701 to
set up an apointment) or possess an Associates degree or have
earned 60 semester hours of college credits.
Preferred Qualifications:
* Be qualified to hold a valid auxiliary personnel license. Prefer
AA/AS degree.
* Have a valid Georgia driver's license.
* Own and operate an automobile.
* Have good interpersonal skills.
* Competently express oneself in both verbal and written
communication.
* Competently follow written and oral directions and possess the
ability to assume responsibility for implementing teacher directed
programs.
* Working knowledge of native language of migrant student
population is preferred.
* Possess integrity and high standard of ethics and
confidentiality.
* Model professionalism in temperament, attitude, appearance and
ethics.
* Some instructional experience is preferred
Instructional Duties:
* Consider home/school/community factors when addressing academic
needs.
* Share relevant information with classroom teachers.
* Assist teachers in determining need for instructional services by
completing migrant student Priority For Services forms (PFS).
* Provide tutorial services as needed in conjunction with the
classroom teacher.
* Communicate progress and needs of migrant students to classroom
teachers.
* Encourage and monitor the progress of individual students
served.
* Use relevant technology to support instruction.
* Evaluate student performance.
* Participate in professional development in subject area,
instructional methods, and classroom environment to meet the
changing needs of students served.
Documentation Duties:
* Notify of prospective enrollees.
* Maintain a log of all instructional and supplemental services
provided.
* Complete and submit reports as directed indicating services
rendered to students.
* Submit students withdrawn in a timely manner (within a week of
withdrawal).
* Provide a written daily schedule to the school, the contact
person and the MEP office.
* Maintain additional documentation as directed by the MEA.
* Meet the established deadlines for completion of all paperwork
and reports required by your District, and/or the Department of
Education's Migrant Office.
Additional Duties:
* Attend appropriate workshops and in-service meetings.
* Maintain a travel log and submit travel expense reimbursement
forms in a timely manner.
* Work closely with MEP staff in preparation for special events
such as ABAC Leadership seminars, parent advisory council meetings,
awards and honors programs and summer schools.
* Involve migrant parents in community interest programs, such as
Spring festivals, local and state PACs, PTA/PTO, and adult
education.
* Perform local duties consistent with the No Child Left Behind Act
reauthorizing the Elementary and Secondary Education Act, as
assigned by the LEA Superintendent.
* Perform other Migrant Education Program duties as directed by the
your local Migrant Education Program Contact.
