JOB DUTIES: This is a technical position in the Office of Agricultural Water Policy (OAWP) assisting in the delivery of field technical services to cooperating agricultural producers. Position responsibilities will include the implementation of the Florida Watershed Restoration Act and/or the Lake Okeechobee Protection Act and associated field activities therein. The successful completion of these activities will require close communication with other OAWP staff, county property appraiser offices, and other spatial data providers. Perform GIS mapping of active agriculture enrolled in Best Management Practices (BMPs) throughout the state. Works with individual county parcel data, water management district land use/land cover data, Florida Statewide Agricultural Irrigation Demand (FSAID), and other applicable datasets to assist in the identification of agricultural lands. In coordination with OAWP Data Manager, will assist in the identification of agricultural land statewide. Enters Notices of Intent (NOIs) to implement BMPs into the BMP tracking system. In coordination with other staff, reviews existing data for errors and inputs data corrections as necessary; assists in other database entry as needed. Conducts other related task as assigned. KNOWLEDGE AND ABILITIES: + Skilled in use of Microsoft Word, Excel. + Use of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) using ESRI ArcGIS software. + Data entry; and the operation of GIS equipment, including computer hardware, plotter/printer setup, and Global Positioning Systems. + Able to communicate technical information effectively. + Carry out assigned tasks efficiently and on time. + Enter form and alphanumeric data accurately. + Establish and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse group of professional and technical staff.
