THIS POSITION WILL BE LOCATED IN BONIFAY, FL, (HOLMES COUNTY,
FL)
BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT: It is the policy of the Florida
Department of Children and Families that any applicant being
considered for employment must successfully complete a State and
National criminal history check as a condition of employment before
beginning employment and also be screened in accordance with the
requirements of Chapter 435, F.S., and, if applicable, Chapter 408,
F.S. No applicant may begin employment until the background
investigation results are received, reviewed for any disqualifying
offenses, and approved by the Agency. Background investigations
shall include, but not be limited to, fingerprinting for State and
Federal criminal records checks through the Florida Department of
Law Enforcement (FDLE) and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)
and may include local criminal history checks through local law
enforcement agencies. Also, employees are subject to background
re-screening at least every five (5) years.
Job Description
The primary function of the Economic Self-Sufficiency Specialist II
includes but is not limited to: reviews and approves case work
processed for eligibility of various public assistance programs;
coaches and mentors unit staff; and completes special projects
needing a higher level of policy knowledge.
Examples of work performed are:
* Reviews and analyzes forms, applications, documents or other
information to make eligibility determinations.
* Uses mainframe computer systems or software applications to
access, create, edit, print, send, retrieve or manipulate data,
files or other information.
* Plans, evaluates, guides and coaches staff as required.
* Conducts fraud investigations and recommends appropriate
action.
* Reviews and analyzes error-prone and complex cases to assist
entry level staff.
* Acquires and maintains a working knowledge of relevant laws,
regulations, policies, standards or procedures.
* Collects data, compiles and organizes information.
* Verifies accuracy of data and reconciles errors or
inconsistencies.
* Provides training to other staff.
* Explains or justifies a decision, conclusions, findings or
recommendations.
* Maintains or updates data, records or other information to ensure
accurate case records.
* Makes recommendations for improvements, solves problems or takes
corrective action when issues arise.
* Uses prescribed mathematical and statistical formulas, schedules,
tables or procedures to perform eligibility determination and or
case reviews.
* Collaborates with others or works on teams to accomplish
work-related activities and to determine appropriate action or
recommend improvements or solutions to problems.
* Reads and understands non-technical materials such as letters,
memoranda, electronic mail or simple instructions.
* Completes forms, documents or routine reports, and composes
simple correspondence or other written work such as memoranda and
form letters.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
An associate's degree, or 60 semester or 90 quarter hours of
college, plus one year experience in the ACCESS program as an
Economic Self-Sufficiency Specialist I. Paraprofessional experience
in a position where the major responsibility was determining
eligibility, conducting investigations, conducting interviews,
providing counseling, recruiting, billing or collecting accounts,
checking credit, processing insurance policies or claims, or
providing customer service can substitute on a year for year basis
for the required college education.
