BASF's North American Apprenticeship Development Program (NAADP) is strongly committed to attracting talented candidates like YOU to join our manufacturing workforce, where you will have the opportunity to grow your career through great work experiences further enhanced through on the job training and skills development.As part of BASF's North American Apprenticeship Development Program (NAADP), apprentices participate in a 30-month program offering hands-on work experience in BASF's chemical manufacturing plants while attending community college to earn a company paid Industrial Electrical Technology. While participating in the NAADP, apprentices will be offered paid tuition, wages, and access to benefits. Electrical and Instrumentation Apprentice - Attapulgus, GAEntry Level Pay Rate - $19.00hr progressing to $23.79hr upon completion of the apprenticeship program.Purpose:You will learn to provide E&I support to BASF Attapulgus Operations with a Safety-First mindset. This apprenticeship role includes but is not limited to learning to install, maintain, troubleshoot and repair of electrical equipment and instrumentation in an industrial plant, including power distribution, motor controls, PLC's, wiring, process controls, flow meters, level transmitters, conductivity, and PH meters.Major Responsibilities:Learn to:Read blueprints, P&ID's, single-lines, ladder logic, and wiring schematics.Repair and troubleshoot analog and discrete instrument loops.Effectively use typical test and calibration equipment, including pneumatic calibrators, RTD calibrators, mA calibrators, T/C calibrators, digital and analog multi-meters, meggers, and laptops for equipment communication.Follow step-by-step calibration procedures.Use computerized systems to enter and retrieve data.Troubleshoot and repair 480 VAC 3 phase motor controls as well as 120 VAC control circuits.Troubleshoot PLC problems through knowledge of PLC logic and operations.Work with and troubleshoot the following:Pressure, temperature, level, and flow measuring equipmentPneumatic ControlsChart recordersWater analytical equipment, including pH/ORP, ConductivitySolenoidsLimit & Proximity SwitchesEHS:Adhere to established safety, health and environmental policies and procedures.Participate in incident investigations.Accomplish day-to-day and recurring EHS activitiesSafety suggestionsProactive hazard recognition and EHS issuesAttend and participate in Safety meetingsWaste management activitiesQualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalentIngredients for Success: What We Look for in You---Basic Qualifications:exhibit the ability to learn on the job and use provided equipment/toolsfollow both written and verbal procedures/instructionscomply with operational and safety guidelinesdemonstrate the ability to work independently and as part of a teamWork overtime and respond to call-out after hours and weekends when needed upon completion of the apprenticeship.Preferred Qualifications:High school diploma or GED Good Communication SkillsHigh Level of attention to detailAbility to lift at least 50lbsBASF recognizes Institutions of Higher Education that are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent.
