Job DescriptionCrawford Industries a division of Spartech, LLC is looking for an Extrusion Operations Supervisor & Technical Support Engineer to join our team in Thomasville, GA. The Thomasville operation of the organization specializes in food board plastic sheets for bacon, but there are all kinds of uses for the plastic sheet that is extruded in Thomasville. We use plastic sheet to make the lamp shades or dog collars for pets following veterinarian procedures, plastic signage or covers for date books, for example. We reuse our scrap plastic whenever possible to create our environmentally friendly products. This day shift position leading our small, but mighty team may just be the right career move for you.Position SummarySupervises the activities of assigned hourly production associates to ensure adequate efficient production levels while maintaining established quality levels, scheduled ship dates, and safety. Responsible for the technical development of the associates, the manufacturing processes, and product development.Key Responsibilities to include:

  • Emphasis on Employee Training and Development to maintain full staffing and achieve productivity objectives.
  • Participates in the Divisions CPR/First Aid Training bi-yearly to keep certification up to date.
  • Supervises hourly associates in assigned areas to ensure adherence to established production standards at the efficient cost, while maintaining established quality levels and scheduled ship dates.
  • Maintains quality standards of products and ensures a good system of controls to identify and reduce scrap and repair levels.
  • Participates in the development and achievement of cost improvements.
  • Determines capital needs associated with operations maintenance and technology improvement. Participates in the acquisition of such items.
  • Develops new products and processes enhancements.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of equipment and processes, while keeping current on technological advances in areas of responsibility.
  • Oversees routine preventive maintenance and requests repairs as required to ensure equipment is maintained in a proper manner.
  • Continually monitors plant conditions and associate actions for compliance to established safety regulations and takes immediate corrective action when necessary. Investigates accidents and prepares necessary reports.
  • Maintains records and submits reports relating to staffing, attendance, material, usage, quality, schedules, and safety.
  • Executes the daily business plan and reacts to changing conditions. Recommends and implements corrective actions in problem areas.
  • Operates within established department budget and prepares monthly budget commentary.
  • Interviews, hires, promotes, trains, evaluates, and disciplines subordinates in accordance with established rules and regulations.
  • Conducts required shift meetings monthly, issues minutes, and follow up on actions items.
  • Responsible for following all established company rules.
  • Maintains good housekeeping, safety, and industrial hygiene practices.
  • All other job duties as assigned.
    • High School diploma plus five (5) years in a manufacturing environment or a four (4) year college degree or experience demonstrating equivalent skills and abilities.
    • Two (2) years supervisory experience or four (4) years of manufacturing experience preferably in the plastics industry.
      • Knowledge of the plastics industry and processing techniques.
      • Experienced in general manufacturing production methods, quality assurance techniques and general safety programs is desirable.

        • Machine knowledge
        • Good human relation skills.Working Conditions and Physical Demands:
          • Work in manufacturing environment.
          • Periodic assignments on other shifts as required.
          • Move pallets of sheet and materials weighing up to one thousand (1000) pounds, usually not more than fifty (50) feet, by hand truck and forklifts
