CONTENT**Open-Competitive Opportunity**POSITION SUMMARY: This
position is located in the Bureau of Production Systems Services
Database & Content section. This is a full-time position that works
closely with Linux Administrator and Windows Administrator to
ensure the availability, integrity, and security of the Department
mission critical database systems. This position requires the
ability to develop and maintain utility programs, scripts and
routines for management of database systems on Red Hat Linux and
Windows server systems. The position also requires excellent
facilitation and customer service skills.DUTIES &
RESPONSIBILITIES:Specific duties include:Management and
administration of Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL database
software and databases;Installing, configuring, patching and
maintaining Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and MySQL database
software and databases;Ensuring the availability, integrity and
security of database data; Providing database backup and recovery
services;Developing and maintaining utility programs, scripts and
routines for management of database systems on Red Hat LINUX and
Windows server systems;Providing network support services for
database-related network technologies and adapters such as TNS,
ODBC, JDBC, OLEDB and .Net; andAssisting in the establishment and
enforcement of database administration policies, standards and
procedures.To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet
the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an
accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S.
Department of Education.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:A bachelor's degree
from an accredited college or university and two years of
experience in computer systems analysis or computer programming; or
A bachelor s degree from an accredited college or university in
management information systems or in one of the computer sciences
and one year of experience in computer systems analysis or computer
programming; or A master's degree from an accredited college or
university in management information systems or in one of the
computer sciences; orA high school diploma or its equivalent and
six years of experience in computer systems analysis or computer
programming; orAny combination of education or experience, as
described above, for a total of six years.Completion of a
720-classroom hour program of study from a vocational/technical
school or accredited community college in an area of data
processing* can substitute for oneyear of the required education or
experience.Completion of a one-year program of study from a
vocational/technical school in an area of data processing* can
substitute for one year of the required education or experience.
Note: 30 semester hours, or equivalent, of course work from an
accredited college or university is equivalent to one year of
experience.*Data entry excluded in data processing
experience.KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:Knowledge of Oracle and
MySQL data base management technologies in UNIX/LINUX operating
system environment;Knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server in a Windows
operating system environment;Knowledge of Oracle, Microsoft SQL
Server and MySQL internals, data structures, and memory
management;Knowledge of Oracle network connectivity; Knowledge of
SQL and PL/SQL languages;Knowledge of UNIX/LINUX operating system
and commands;Knowledge of Microsoft Server operating system and
commands;Knowledge of computer programming, systems analysis and
systems design principles and practices; Knowledge of
problem-solving techniques;Knowledge of operational procedures
forinstalling and maintaining Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server and
MySQL software and databases;Knowledge of designing, developing,
testing, documenting and implementing database backup and recovery
procedures;Knowledge of performing database backup and recovery
processes for Oracle using RMAN; Knowledge of performing database
backup and recovery processes for Microsoft SQL Server;
Knowledgeconfiguring data base parameters for performance tuning;
Knowledge ofdeveloping, testing, documenting and implementing SQL,
Oracle PL/SQL, UNIX/LINUX shell scripts and Windows operating
system BAT or CMD shell scripts;Ability to work
independently;Ability to create logical, well-written standards and
procedures related to database design and database administration;
Ability to write, code, test, debug, and review computer programs
and stored procedures;Ability to process information logically and
solve problems;Ability to identify and define user
requirements;Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in
writing;Ability to establish and maintain effective working
relationships with others;Ability to plan, organize and coordinate
multiple concurrent projects and work assignments; andAbility to
write technical data processing reports.BASE SALARY:
$45,848.06Salary for the position will be commensurate with
