Department This position is within FSUs Department of The Data &
Analytics group develops and maintains data products, capabilities,
and elements related to them to support, improve, and enhance
University partners use of data. Partners use offerings provided to
gain insight into their operations and processes as well as to aid
in decision making.Responsibilities Analytics architect is
responsible for designing and crafting the analytical and decision
support products which support the university's operations and help
provide the highest quality of service to our students, faculty,
staff, and community partners. Analytics architects will use their
skills to distill information in a manner that is highly consumable
and actionable by our users.Responsible for capturing and reviewing
business requirements needed for new design, development, and
maintenance of analytical models. Reviews and completes processes
or modifications by performing technical development based on these
requirements.Responsible for contributing to improvements and
enhancements of the ERP system by designing, developing, analyzing,
and supporting the creation of analytical products in alignment
with functional and technical system requirements. Produces
reports, dashboards, data models, and data sets using appropriate
program code, scripts, and tools to provide problem resolutions and
new functionality in complex analytical systems.Responsible for
profiling data and conducting testing scenarios to ensure the
integrity of analytical products and processes while validating for
all applications. Provides recommendations for enhancements to
existing systems.Responsible for the creation and maintenance of
system specifications and documented requirements pertaining to
analytical products, models, and processes.Performs duties in
compliance with ITS policies, guidelines, and processes pertaining
to support requests, work orders, project management, change
management, and incident management. Appropriately utilizes
associated tools in accordance with ITS standards.Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or other appropriate
degree and one year experience or a high school diploma or
equivalent and five years of experience. (Note: or a combination of
post high school education and experience equal to five
years.)Preferred Qualifications Knowledge of and experience with
administration of OBIEE, Power BI, and/or other analytics
platforms.Knowledge of and experience in development of data models
and associated analyses in OBIEE, Power BI, and/or other analytics
tools.Helpful Who is an ideal candidate for this position?The ideal
candidate for this position is motivated, organized, and able to
work both independently and as part of a team. As a lot of the work
involves iterative development to tease out requirements, the ideal
candidate should be able to partner effectively with clients and
translate statements and descriptions into implementations while
being able to effectively manage scope and return on effort.
Ideally, the candidate would have experience and skills in the
tools already in use by the team (OBIEE, Power BI, Oracle DB,
Snowflake, etc.).What is a typical day in this position?A typical
day in the position involves addressing service requests and
problem reports with regular interaction with the
requesting/reporting individuals to gather details, working on
longer term projects which may involve either communication with
SMEs or heads down development/configuration work, and keeping
current on data analysis techniques and methodology as well as
product capabilities, with an eye towards potential utilization
here. Specific work could involve anything from using tools related
to support of OBIEE or Power BI to interaction with command line
tools around server administration.What can I expect in the first
60-90 days?During the first 60-90 days, the candidate can expect to
be on-boarded as necessary into existing processes and procedures
around development/maintenance of data products and capabilities
offered by the team. They'll work with members of the team on
various tickets and projects, meeting members of the community as
they do (and due to the standard requests, they'll likely interact
with power users first). As proficiency and familiarity grows,
they'll take on more of the assignments in a solo fashion. The time
to that milestone will be commensurate with previous familiarity
with tools, processes, and the FSU environment. University
